2010 Issues of United Concern

Goals and Objectives for 2010

1. Increase membership and member participation
2. Initiate outreach to member Districts and other potential members
3. Complete recruitment of Directors for each represented county
   

PRIORITIES-

• Seek chapter amendments to the "Consolidation Bill" to inform the citizenry now that they have been empowered.
• Seek authority allowing for localized training and at the same time clarify the amount of training required for fire police.
• Expand the authority for fire departments in performing background checks. 
• Eliminate utility authority to place demand meters on fire stations.
• Allow fire districts to use credit unions.

OPPOSE-

• Mandatory absentee ballots for fire district elections
• Moving the fire district election date to the general election date.
• The ability to obtain membership in more than one fire department.

SUPPORT-

• The ability of EMS agencies under the control of fire departments to bill.
• A permanent Heart Bill.
